I write about Stuart in chapter two of Ghost Writer. He was my mentor and the person who shaped me into the psychic medium I am today. He passed away over a decade ago, and he still guides me.Early in our relationship, before I understood what he was really teaching me, he said something so simplistic that I laughed: “I say yes to everything.”I remember the disdain in my voice when I replied: “You say yes to everything?!” He just smiled and didn’t qualify it. He let me sit with it. He’d bring it back every so often over the years of our mentorship. And each time, I understood it a little more. Eventually, through the work of understanding energy, healing, and how things actually manifest, I started living it myself. Saying yes isn’t giving up or giving in. It’s when you stop spending your valuable life force fighting what is and redirect that same energy toward what you actually want to create. You’re not arguing with reality. You’re standing in the present moment and remembering what is most important: you are a creator. You are born from the same intelligence that constructs universes. That is your heritage. Once you give up competing with what is, you’re free to turn your full creative attention toward what comes next. It’s the difference between forcing your way upstream and learning to work with the current. You’re not here to wrestle reality into submission. Creation doesn’t start from fighting. It starts from allowance by seeing clearly what is, accepting it without collapsing into it, and then asking: okay, so where do I want to go from here? Stuart knew this. He lived it. And in his wise way, he just
kept saying it until I was ready to hear it. That thing you can’t seem to change no matter how hard you push? You don’t have to love it. You don’t have to pretend it doesn’t hurt. You just get to remember that you are powerful. The moment you release resisting what is, all the energy tied up in the struggle returns to you, available to take you where you really want to go. That’s the YES.
